Konga refocuses growth among Nigeria online shoppers, parleys FG

Lagos. April 15, 2013: Konga Online Megastore says it has recorded “outstanding” growth in the last eight months of Nigeria entry which the leading online store sees as underscoring potentials of the fast-growing sector driven by improved ICT infrastructure.

Sim Shagaya, Chief Executive Officer of Konga says the feats achieved in less than a year of the company’s operation made President Goodluck Jonathan to invite the company to a meeting in Abuja.

According to him “we are privileged to be invited to meet President Goodluck Jonathan. It signifies recognition of the work that is being done to develop a local Internet ecosystem”

He adds that the company is not retreating but is rather consolidating on the successes and improving the entire business model and enriching consumer experience.

The Konga boss was among the entrepreneurs and captains of industry that met with President Jonathan recently in the seat of government in Abuja to galvanize support for the Centenary Celebration of Nigeria scheduled for 2014.

Konga reckons that its current reach and penetration far outweigh all rivals noting that massive investment is being deployed to further drive service penetration to ensure presence in more locations in the country.

According to him the strategic unique edge Konga has over other online stores was it after sales service and installation of gadgets where necessary.

Shagaya says that unlike other online stores, Konga also installs appliances and gadgets for customers.

When asked how the company generates profit with all the free services embedded in its business model, Shagaya responds by saying that the online store leverages volume of transactions with a minimal profit margin that will help consumers to save huge money.

When queried about the integrity of the company networks against malware and other online attacks, he says that the company is constantly upgrading its networks to withstand any form of Internet threat.

“We are constantly making investments in upgrading our networks and backing up again and again to fortify our systems against any attack”, Shagaya says.

Konga threw open its back end facilities as journalists were conducted round its warehouse where it stores products ranging from books, clothes and groceries, among others.
